Mont-Saint-Michel, 10 km away: at its best in the morning light or in the evening, far from the crowds.
Dol-de-Bretagne (15 km) and Cancale (25 km), where you enjoy oysters straight from the producers with a view over the bay.
Saint-Malo (35 km) with its corsair old town, Dinan (46 km) and Dinard (47 km) with its Belle Époque villas.
For families: the Villecartier forest (20 min) with its bathing lake, pedal boats and treetop adventure park.
Our favourite spot: Mont-Dol. A tiny village at the foot of a lone hill, with one of the finest viewpoints in the area. On a clear day the view takes in 40 kilometres of coastline, and the silence is complete. A peaceful place that few visitors know.
Magali, who runs the campsite, shares her tip: “For the abbey, be on the Mont from 8am; it opens around 9:30am. Then take the guided tour with commentary: only that one opens the rooms otherwise kept closed. And if you are not visiting the abbey, come after 7pm, in summer even after 8pm, and the Mont is almost yours alone.”
