As people who know the area well, we, Magali, Vincent and our team, are happy to point you to our favourite outings. Just about 10 minutes away you’ll discover the Mont-Saint-Michel and its UNESCO World Heritage bay, then the beaches of Cherrueix, Saint-Malo, Dinan and Cancale with its oysters.
The Mont-Saint-Michel, 10 km away: at its best in the morning light or in the evening, far from the crowds.
Dol-de-Bretagne (15 km) and Cancale (25 km), where you can taste oysters straight from the producers overlooking the bay.
Saint-Malo (35 km) with its corsair city, Dinan (46 km) and Dinard (47 km) with its Belle-Époque villas.
For families: the Villecartier forest (20 min) with its bathing lake, pedal boats and treetop adventure park.
Our favourite spot: the Mont-Dol. A tiny village at the foot of a lone hill, with one of the finest viewpoints in the area. On a clear day the view spans 40 kilometres of coastline, and the silence is complete. A quiet place that few visitors know.
Magali’s tip, campsite manager: “For the abbey, aim to be on the Mont from 8am; it opens around 9:30. Then take the guided tour with talk: only that one opens the otherwise closed halls. And if you’re not visiting the abbey, come after 7pm, even after 8pm in summer, and the Mont is almost yours alone.”
